Travelling to Wellington

Getting to Wellington is easy, whether you’re travelling by air, road or sea. Wellington International Airport is well served by domestic and international flights by major airlines, while major New Zealand Highways connect Wellington to surrounding North Island regions.

Wellington is less than one hour’s flight from New Zealand's main cities and domestic services are plentiful. You can fly here from most regions with Air New Zealand, and Jetstar also offers flights to Wellington from select New Zealand centres.

From 19 April 2021, you can travel between Australia and New Zealand without having to go into a managed isolation facility. Airlines between the two countries will be increasing flights between Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown and the Australian ports, with a new Air New Zealand Hobart to Auckland direct flight starting on 22 April 2021.
